Executive Committee

Profile

Colin "Daisy" May Lt. Cdr. RN -  Chief Judge
I have been involved in Royal Navy Field Gun for 25 years and this is my 4th year as Chief Judge.  My focus is to support the Chairman & Executive Committee in organising and executing the main competition in HMS Collingwood and various UK national events each year.  I am responsible for the delivery of judging and that all Crews are fairly assessed against a prescribed set of rules, which attract time penalties if not carried out correctly.
This year we are honoured to be sponsored by the Royal Navy Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) and will be known from now on as RNRMC Field Gun.  It has been an aspiration of mine to reach the maximum 24 Crews drawn from across Defence, which I believe we have reached this year.  Old favourites and new Crews will be in attendance, this makes for an interesting and unpredictable competition.
I am confident that RNRMC FG will continue from strength to strength.  Please join us this season and enjoy the spectacle that remains the most challenging team event in the World.

Lt Rob 'Kerry' Packer  -  Battery Commander (FG Ops)
Lt Rob 'Kerry' Packer joined the RN on 17 Mar '86 and by chance he loves Guinness!
Qualified initially as a Mine Warfare specialist, he transferred to become a Physical Trainer in '89 and commissioned into the role of Physical Training & Recreation Officer in Jul of '03.
Training as a Naval Intelligence Officer in '06 he saw service with 857 NAS, HQBFSAI and finally Northwood HQ from where he rejoined the Physical Training world in Jul '11.
During his 26 years in 'The Andrew' he has been lucky enough to run Command Field Gun on 5 occasions (Dev '87, Ports '92, '95, '97 & '99 crew PTI '98) and has also run 5 Brickwoods FG crews.
He was 1st Trainer for HMS Seahawk Brickwoods Crew in 2006.
Married to Netty his hobbies include mountain biking, playing rugby for the RN Ancient Mariners (albeit for a maximum of 30 mins before he breaks!) and walking the family pooch, Mizuno.
Vicki Kay (Lt RN) – Chief Timekeeper
A relative newcomer to Royal Navy Field Gun, I have been involved in Field Gun for 4 years with this being my second year as Chief Timekeeper and a member of the Field Gun Executive Committee. With the assistance of a team of indispensable volunteer timekeepers, I am responsible for ensuring that the times of all competitive field gun runs are recorded and collated accurately, making sure that winning teams and record breaking times are correctly identified.
Gary Nicolson W01 - Trainers Rep A
I am the Trainer’s Rep alongside PO Dutchie Holland sitting on the RNRMC Executive Committee.  I am also a Trustee of the RNRMC and I am delighted that the Field Gun community are so behind this worthwhile Charity which helps Serving and ex serving members of the RN and RM’s.
I am in my 21st year of being involved with Field Gun and I have run for HMS Neptune and I have also competed for HMS Sultan in 1999.
I have been a Drag Number, Pin Number, Firing No and Extractor.  Drags were definitely the hardest position and thankfully I have retired gracefully.
I have been No2 Trainer on 3 Occasions whilst still running and this will be my 4th time as No1 for HMS Neptune.
I love the Ethos of Field Gun and want to contribute in anyway I can, by being part of the committee and part of the wider field gun family.
If Dutchie and I can be of assistance to you and your crew then please get in touch.
