Membership of the Royal Navy Target Rifle Club (RNTRC) is open to all serving and retired members of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and their Reserves.
Competitions with other rifle clubs are held regularly between March and October each year, at the National Shooting Centre, Bisley (near Guildford). Fees are subsidised for serving members. An Open Meeting is held each year, usually over the middle weekend of September, which includes the RN Serving Championships.
Single shot fullbore 7.62mm target rifles are used to fire from ranges from 300 to 1000 yards (occasionally 1100 yards). The club holds 23 rifles, including 9 RPA 2000s which are reserved for use by serving RN members only, and 9 Paramounts/Swings for use by serving RMs. All levels of experience and ability are catered for during training and competition days which are held frequently during the spring and summer months.
An F/TR (scoped) rifle will be ready for use from late 2010.
With the exception of representative Inter-Services competitions, matches are open to all members of the RNTRC, including the Pentangular in May, and the Trafalgar Match (RN vs RM) in October.
Membership currently costs £10/year, with a £5 joining fee. Contact the Secretary for further details.
