Royal Navy Lacrosse Association

Lacrosse is a new but rapidly growing sport in the Royal Navy with over 200 participants a year taking part from the Royal Navy.  We play all forms including Men’s, Ladies’ and Mixed lacrosse.  To find out more about the history of lacrosse click here.

The highlight of the lacrosse calendar is the annual Inter Services competition which will be held on Saturday 30th June 2012 in London this year.  Other competitive opportunities include the Bath 8s, Stockport 8s, Portsmouth 8s and even the Dan Helder tournament in the Netherlands.  We also arrange matches against local club and university sides with the men's team play regularly around the country and a new but thriving women's setup the future of the sport in the Royal Navy looks good.

In July 2009, the Royal Navy hosted the Inter Services competition at HMS Temeraire in Portsmouth.  In 2011, at the Inter Services at RAF Halton the Royal Navy came second and we are looking to go one better this year.  Those who wish to further enhance their lacrosse skills can undertake coaching and refereeing qualifications.  As the sport continues to develop in the Royal Navy there will be more events at bases around the country.

The Royal Navy Lacrosse Association undertakes a lot of grassroots coaching providing beginner sessions to junior trainees at establishments all around the country.  We work very close with the English Lacrosse Association to develop the support.  You can read more about our grassroots coaching by clicking on the tab on the left hand menu.

Beginners are always welcome and all kit and coaching is provided free of charge.  For more information regarding Royal Navy Lacrosse Association please contact Lt Cdr Dan Weil RN at [email protected].
