RM Bickleigh is located in the village of Bickleigh some 8-9 miles North east of Plymouth City Centre. Home to 42 Commando RM, the value of Bickleigh as a military training area lies in its close proximity to Dartmoor, with its ideal training areas and ranges, coupled with its proximity to Plymouth for easy maritime access.

Facilities include a large fully equipped gymnasium, with a wide range of weight training and cardiovascular machines, an indoor climbing wall and a sports hall for football, basketball, badminton, five-a-side and general physical training. In addition to squash and tennis courts, there is an outdoor abseiling/climbing facility, a floodlit all weather games pitch, and football and rugby pitches. One popular training activity is the camp circuit (trim track), which has a number of exercise stances situated around the camp perimeter track.

Bickleigh is one of the few establishments to have a full facility riding stables and riding area which is utilised for rehabilitation as well as sport and leisure. The base also has a Medical Centre, Dental Surgery, Education Centre, Library, Internet Suite, Naffi / Spar shop and Families Centre.
